Ajmer a historical city of royal state Rajasthan situated in
the surrounding of Aravali Hills, the name of Ajmer comes from Ajay Meru which
means “Invincible Hills”. Ajmer city was founded by King Ajay Pal of Chouhan
royal family, the city also known as capital of Chouhan royal family of
Rajasthan.

In 1193 Mughal emperor Mohammad Gauri defeated Prithviraj
Chouhan in second battle of Tarain since then Ajmer changes its capital status
according to the current emperor, because of Mughals the world famous tomb of
Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, is situated in Ajmer and it is also known as Ajmer Sharif.
Ajmer is the only city in Rajasthan which was not ruled by
Rajputana .History says in an agreement between Mughal emperor Jahangir and British Queen Elizabeth, Ajmer was handed over to East India Company and all operations of East India
Company was controlled from Ajmer.

In present Ajmer is known in Rajasthan because of its
high quality education and culture, Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education is
also located in Ajmer, as well as a college from British India time named "Mayo
College" is also located in Ajmer.
